How to Secure a String of Beads
There are many different ways to secure a string of beads. Some use beadingwire, while others use clamshell, memory wire, or silk cord. No matter what method you choose, be sure to secure your beads tightly and securely. You won’t have to worry about your beads falling off.
Memory wire
You can create your own jewelry by stringing beads on a memory wire bracelet. This hard steel wire is available in coiled loops that will fit the shape of your bracelet. The bracelet will look larger as you add beads. It will also slip over your wrist without the use of a clasp.
It can be difficult to use memory wire, especially if you have the task of finishing the ends. Take a pair of round-nosed scissors and grasp the wire’s end with them. Next, use your opposing thumb and press the wire into the jaws of your pliers. Next, take the pliers off your back. You will need to leave a small gap at one end of the wire. This will prevent the beads from falling off.
Once you’ve secured your beads, you’ll need to secure the wire. Remember that the memory wire is stiff and can be difficult to loop. You may need to use round-nose pliers to make the loops.
Silk cord
You may be interested in how to secure silk thread beads to make jewelry. The key is to avoid using crimps because they will wear the silk thread out over time. To secure the design, use a knot instead. You may need to insert a spacer beads if you have large beads before you tie a knot. You can also fill the holes in large beads with air-dry clay. Before you string your beads make sure the clay has dried completely.
A needle-end silk cord is the best way to string glass beads. This cord is ideal for stringing glass beads and pearls as well as gemstones. The needle-end design makes it easy to knot and is also attractive. There are also many different colors and diameters of silk cord that you can use.
Clamshell
Using a Clamshell to secure a string of bead is a simple yet elegant method of securing your beads. Clam Shells are shaped like a book, and have a small hole on one end. This makes it easy to slip a jumpring through. This technique is useful when stringing beads on nylon or silk cord.
A chain nose pliers can be used to create a tight tie. This knot will help prevent metal from fraying the stringing material. Once you have secured your bead string, you can use GS-Hypo cement to reinforce the knot. Next, thread the stringing material through your bead tip. Make sure you pull it through both loops so they point towards the end.
Beading Wire with a Color Coating
Beading wire can be one of the most essential supplies for beading. It can be used to string seed beads or weave small semi-precious gemstones. This wire can also be used for securing larger beads like crystals or faceted stones. Beading wire is available in a wide range of colors.
Flexible beading is better than rigid, as it has more strands. You should look for strands with more than seven strands for better drape and shape retention, but beware of wires with fewer strands. Beadalon makes three sizes of beading cord: the 7-strand, the 19 strand, and the 49 strand. The number of stainless steel wire strands that have been twisted together to make the cable is called the strand number. A nineteen-strand wire is more flexible than a seven strand wire. It has more strands per strand than its smaller cousin.
Trimming the tail of the beading wire
Trimming the tail of the beadding wire is an important step in securing a string of beads. The bead cap should be about three inches from your wire end. After crimping the end, pull the end of the wire so that it makes a small loop that will accommodate a jump ring later.
Once you have strung your beads, you can crimp the wire to secure the tube. After you have crimped your beads, the tail will come out through the hole in the last few beads. This will make threading wire a bit more difficult. If you’d rather crimp the wire right before you strung the beads, you can crimp the tail between the fourth and fifth bead. You can also crimp it once you’ve strung the last beads. This will secure your loop and make it look neat.
